The revolutionary EXAscan and REVscan handheld 3D laser scanners provide the world's leading portable laser scanning solutions, with technology features that deliver excellent surface data for reverse engineering, component inspection, digital prototyping and modelling.
Unlike traditional 3D laser scanners that need to be mounted on a CMM, articulated arm or an optical CMM, these lightweight scanning units are totally self contained and use a unique spatial self-positioning technology tied directly to the part being inspected. This allows
high resolution scans to be made autonomously, without any need to be connected to an external positioning system.
This stand-alone capability delivers both true portability and excellent scanning manoeuverability, providing easy access to many scanning jobs that were previously very difficult to undertake, such as in restricted internal spaces and in elevated situations.
Because the system position is directly referenced to the part itself in real time, the scanned part is actually able to be moved in any way required during scanning to access all its facets, and any accidental movement of an object or any mounting softness has no effect on scan quality.
Laser scanning in remote on-site locations is also made easy because not only is the scanner lightweight, the whole system fits into a protective case the size of carry on luggage.
Each laser scanning system includes powerful and user friendly VxScan v2 software loaded on a high performance laptop and everything required to be up and scanning within minutes of opening the protective case, and to be exporting high quality STL surface files in an amazingly short time without any additional software.
The data acquisition software provides automatic or manual resolution selection, zoomable live 3D rendering during laser scanning and advanced surface and mesh optimisation algorithms to deliver light, high quality scan data directly in STL format. Instead of increasing measurement uncertainty, any ov
er-scanned data refines the surface STL mesh, providing very high quality output before any post-scan manipulation.
Learning to use the system is made easy by an outstandingly intuitive software design that allows the power of the software to be truly realised in practice. Traceable auto-calibration of the sensor is also fast and simple using a supplied master reference.
As well as redefining portability and ease of use, EXAscan deliversscanning resolution as fine as 0.050mm and accuracy to 0.04mm at a scanning rate of 25,000/s, EXAscan is a highly versatile, easy to use system that is applicable to virtually any field requiring the accurate and efficient capture of 3D object data.
In addition to delivering brilliant portability and advanced 3D scanning performance, the stand-alone integrated positioning and scanning design also translates to a surprisingly affordable and competitive total system cost.
Since its initial release in 2005, the success of REVscan and EXAscan has generated international sales of over 600 laser scanning units to the worlds leading companies in a wide range of industries including automotive, aerospace, biomechanics, consumer products and architecture.
