A unique integrated processor and high speed Digilog data link provides for high speed measurement of each individual tip of multi-tip cutters rotating at full RPM. The precisely focused laser beam also allows complete scanning of a profiled tip edge, able to detect even small imperfections or localised wear in seconds.
The system provides automated “in-machine” tool length measurement and setting. This process provides significantly greater certainty of tool dimensions than is possible with off-line tool setting. Incorrectly set tools or pocket errors are detected by the machine before touching the job.
Tools may be checked for breakage by passing them through the Laser Beam without pausing, immediately after taking a cut, to safeguard following tools.
In addition, the incredible accuracy of the focused laser beam allows the machine to be precisely adjusted for thermal growth at any time or at regular intervals to greatly improve the stability of the machining process, especially in non temperature controlled factory environments.
